Sometimes I wish I were a member of the European Union. Or really just having an EU passport would be nice. It would make life so much easier while I am abroad. For some reason the museums/archeological sites here tend to give discounts to peoples aged 18-24 with an EU passport. Thus was the case at the Baths of Caracalla. So we paid full price, but it was totally worth it. I had studied the floor plan before, but I was under the impression that there was not much of it left. Not so. My camera died because I made it take so many pictures. I was particularly impressed by how many of the floor mosaics had endured. My imagination was going full speed, for the Baths of Caracalla will one day be recreated in all their splendor in the basement of the Ziggurat.
Gelato today was Stracciatella.
Aaron has dubbed me: Vans, the Knower of Spaces. I've had a knack for being able to find obscure stores and restaurants we've been to again. Which is strange because I'm always getting lost in Leicester.
More rain this evening, but still blessedly warm.

I have seen digital reconstructions of the Baths, and they must have been awesome. About the Ziggurat: beware too much basement humidity.
How is it possible that "Vans, Knower of Spaces" could be the daughter of "Susan, Misplacer of Necessary Things"? Weird.
Have you found the underground rooms that (as I recall) may have been part of Nero's home?
Cheers,
k
