I slept in until 11:30 today, it was glorious. Luckily so did others, and then I went with Sarah, Richard, Jenn, Jessica, and Madelyn to Camden Market. We ate at The Diner, and I got an unexpected fix of cheese fries, real cheese fries. Our waitress looked like a starlet from the movies and was the cutest ever. Camden Market was not as big as I expected, but it had a great atmosphere and lots of hip clothing. I didn't get much, but it was just fun to look around. One interesting thing I saw was a new style of glasses. There were of course a lot of cheap sunglasses, but then there were also these 'glasses' of sorts that had the frames of sunglasses and then instead of lenses they just had plastic vertical bars going across the eyes. Weird, huh? I have yet to see anyone actually wearing them. They strike me as an item you might buy just to show them to your friends and make fun of them.
After we had our fill of cheap merchandise, Richard and I went back to the Tate Modern. I was glad I didn't have to go alone, and he was the only other person who was interested in going back. Unfortunately most of the students in our group who went on the quick tour yesterday got/were under the impression that modern art is just a big joke, something to make fun of. We were actually in the Underground and saw a poster that had been mostly ripped off, and one of them made the joke that it was modern art, and should have a signature at the bottom. When Richard and I went back to the Tate Modern today we got the audio guides, which were really high tech/awesome, and we ended up spending almost three hours there without realizing it. We didn't even get to see everything we wanted to! I like modern art more and more as I get to know it better, it really makes you think. I especially liked being able to get information about the pieces instead of just wondering what their purpose is.
Next I met up with the whole group to go on the Jack the Ripper walking tour. It was so much fun! We had a different tour guide, Jasper, and he told the story really well. We saw where three of the five murders occurred. It was dusk when the tour started, so the mood was right. Jasper was a gold mine of information about every aspect of the Jack the Ripper story, and I understand it so much better now. It was a good note to end a London Orientation on.
This is my last night in London for awhile, tomorrow we go to Oxford and Stratford.

Man, now I feel like I didn't get anything accomplished today.
Did you eat your cheese fries with ketchup? I hear they're really good that way.
Mmm, fried food. Here's to your very happy stay in London. I read ahead and really want to comment on your latest post, so that's all for now. <3

Those are making a comeback from the 80s. I didn't understand them then, either.
