London: Day 4

The internet in the hotel crapped out, so I'm in an internet cafe down the street and I'm not sure how long it will be good for, so here goes nothing...

I have a phone! I'm not sure exactly how it works, but my number is 07531820667, for anyone who's interested. I'm sure it costs money, so don't feel obligated.

This morning I went to Westminster Abbey, which was quite interesting. Lots and lots of tombs. It was neat seeing the tombs and memorials of so many famous English people, my particular favourite was Lewis Carroll. After this we went to the Tower of London, and I saw the Crown Jewels, which were more impressive than I expected, and tons (literally) of armour and artillery in the White Tower. They had this neat exhibition where you could try out jousting and archery and the like. Interesting thing about the Tower of London, it's not much of a 'tower' so much as a castle. It doesn't really tower over anything. Also, they keep ravens there, six of them, and supposedly if they ever leave, the monarchy will end. They keep them in cages, which I think is kind of cheating. What I'm learning is that the English are incredibly superstitious.

Tonight I said goodbye to my parents. We had dinner at a splendid Italian restaurant. They leave for Athens tomorrow morning, and I was sad to see them go. It's been really fun traveling with them.

Tomorrow is the British Museum and the Houses of Parliament. The girls from New York and I are planning on making a trip to H & M in the afternoon. I'm sorry I don't have more fun quirky stories to tell, I'm afraid I'm so tired I just can't remember the things I made a note of blogging. I'll try to be less boring tomorrow.

Hey You, glad to get the info on the blog...will stay in touch with you thru this means.

Wishing you were here to eat and drink, but know that you're in a much better place for this semester. Lots of love, Susan

My darling,

Please think of me at the H&M. I am jealous that you are less than five hours away from this glorious place (but not quite as jealous as I am that you're in a faraway land...and that you get to eat at interesting restaurants).

Perhaps I'll try the phone thing. Sometime.

Jack just almost cracked his head open on the floor from play-wrestling with Mike. Oh, roommates. Wish you were here.

Find out her last name!

More later,
Jamie

Wifey,

Awesome. All of it. Especially the attractive young Israeli man. Heh. Such a time you're having.

Your number is in my phone now, and I have no idea what the time difference is, but I'm going to call you as soon as I figure it out. Wait! It's on my phone. Anyway...

Had Senate tonight, it was entirely uneventful, the usual suspects are as obnoxious as ever.

I can't wait to hear more about your room and see pictures. Because I know you're taking lots of them. Right? Right.

Love you.

Vans, those Brits have silly phone numbers.

We miss you!

Oops. I didn't mean to comment twice about the Israeli man. Sorry.

It's campus payday tomorrow. The poster sale is happening, but I don't see any Alice In Wonderland prints.

xo.
