I have friends!!!
There are about 30 students in my orientation group, and only three of them aren't American. Of those three, all of them are Australian! About 75% of us are female, too, so it's a bit lopsided.
I bought an umbrella this morning and said goodbye to my parents. It was much cooler today and the sun did not come out. Everyone in the group has been very nice. We started out with a walk around central London, some things I had seen, others not. It was funny to be in Leicester Square, where the Tropic Thunder premiere was tonight, and as some of you may know, I've seen it twice. So I guess even Salt Lake City has something over London. We made our way to the London Eye, which was fun. One of our walk breaks was in Covent Garden, where I purchased a Phantom of the Opera style mask; decoration for my dorm room.
After we got back to the hotel for the evening, I was starved, luckily so were a few others. The others turned out to be other girls who had already been in Europe for awhile, so they were not warn out on flying in jet lag. Maren, Heather, Caitlyn, Sarah, and I went the Hummus Bar for dinner, and it was sooooo good. Wonderful hummus, and the waiter was an attractive young Israeli man who gave us hot green tea on the house at the end of our meal. He also told us where to find some good night life in the area, but we were all too tired to try anything this evening.
I'm now staying at the Royal National Hotel, and my roommate is also from Kansas. Her name is Sara something, let me work on that, but she is from Topeka, and she knows Elise and Jamie! There are two girls from Topeka. There are a few more from KU, just none that I knew before. The others, so far as I know, are from Colorado, New York, Ohio, and California.
Tomorrow is Westminster Abbey and the Tower of London!

Oh my goodness, it is such a small world, huh? I'm glad you're making yourself comfortable, madam. You'll know the town like the back of your hand in a few days.
T-town pride! It is amazing and incredible that you're rooming with someone who knows Jamie and I. And it's good, too, so when you talk about us constantly she has a frame of reference : )
And Vansy, your entries delight me. An attractive young Israeli man, huh? It sounds like you're having the cultural time of your life-I want to see pictures, woman.
I saw someone I thought was you in the SILC office today, and I almost had a heart attack.
Love and miss you.
