Leicester: Day 48

Happy Thanksgiving!!!

I have spent most of the day in the library, but I did get a break in my work for a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner that the university provided to all the American study abroad students. It was a great atmosphere. Without any coaxing, we all went around in a circle and said what we were thankful for. I said I was thankful for being in England. The food was surprisingly delicious too, especially the stuffing. The pumpkin pie was homemade! It didn't even look orange! There was plentiful wine as well.

I am finely tuning my presentation for class tomorrow. Fingers crossed. By the end of tomorrow I'll know whether my teacher thinks its commendable or annoying for me to use 'BCE' for my dates.

How wonderful that the university is so thoughtful. It's rare to see a bureaucratic institution take the effort.

When I taught in the OU ESL program, some of my Iranian students invited themselves over to our family Christmas dinner.

Personally I vote for using BCE. Bring perspective to the old world. But explain it.

Break a leg.

I'm so glad that you got to have Thanksgiving dinner, and that it was delicious and full of thankfulness. I realize as I write that I haven't had any pumpkin pie this year-I need to correct that. Jack bought some from the Merc for Bungalow Thanksgiving. I'll have some now. I can't wait to have Thanksgiving with you next year.
