Leicester: Day 29

Aaron made it back to Athens safely. Whew.

Today was back to school and back to cold. I made contributions to my English seminar on Emma, by Jane Austen. There was one point during the class when our teacher wanted one of us to read a passage. It was a speech by Mrs. Elton, and she specifically asked one of us to do it justice. She looked at me since I had been the most vocal about her character, but I just balked and said, 'I'm sorry but I'm American, there's no WAY I can do this justice.' My friend Jen from KU laughed beside me. It was true, there are so many well spoken English girls in that class, it's ridiculous.

I have a phone, now I just need to top-up and I'll be able to use it. Tonight I went out to Zanzibar with a bunch of the study abroad kids. The theme was James Bond. Good times. The music in one of the rooms was all the music I remember from middle school. Tomorrow's a big day, I'll be watching, one way or another. Thankfully I don't have class tomorrow or Wednesday.

It is wonderful to listen to a good reading with an authentic English accent!

Will your phone number be different - I imagine?

Stay warm

Emma was a matchmaker. You should have read her with a Jewish accent, like Yentl (the matchmaker). That would have been special.

Today I spent the morning at Obama headquarters, calling voters. At my request, they let me call Colorado voters, because Colorado (unlike Utah) is in play. CNN has Colorado with a small Obama lead.

You will have plenty to watch tomorrow, but the first polls (East coast) close at 10 pm Leicester time. Watch Indiana, Ohio, Florida, and North Carolina -- they will be indicators. Pennsylvania has been a big campaign site for McCain, but it's still showing an 8 point Obama advantage.

When you wake up Wednesday, be prepared for Change.
