There was no point in blogging yesterday, even if I had had the energy, because our entire day was exhausted by getting from Brussels back to Amsterdam. Our bus was supposed to leave at noon, and after our near miss on Sunday we went an hour early. The bus was an hour late due to bad weather in Italy. Because of the delay we got stuck in evening traffic. We didn't get into our hostel until seven. We gave into an undeniable craving for Chinese food.
Today I had to say goodbye to Kate. That was really tough. She is a good friend. The only way I'm going to get to see her again is if I go to South Africa.
On my own, I made the trip down to see the Van Gogh museum and said goodbye to my daily allowance. Really expensive museum and no student discount. So I spent three hours there and soaked up as much as I could. I was not blown away by the permanent collection, there wasn't enough, but I do feel like I understand his work much better now. Besides Van Gogh, I also saw Gauguin, Matisse, Millet, Bernard, Rembrandt, and many others.
Right now I am at a bar right next to my hostel that has free wi-fi. I'm not sure what I'm going to do these next couple days. There are day trips I could take that aren't too expensive, and I'm really close to the train station. I could go to Den Haag or Haarlem. However, I am really sick of transportation right now, so I might just do some walking tours of Amsterdam. This is a strange city, but it definitely has a lot of history.

Rijksmuseum. You gotta do the Rijksmuseum. Rembrandt. Hals. Vermeer. More.
It might feel good to just kick back and do nothing for awhile. You must be bloated on experiences.
I have NOT mailed the letter to Macedonia. The time was just too short to be reliable.
love, k
